How to Install a TT Soft Top

Manual Soft Top Operation
1. Turn your Audi TTs engine off if your soft top is only manually installable.
2. Push in the soft top release storage buttons on either side of the vehicle. Pull the soft top up and release its front strap.
3. Lift the entire soft top out of the storage container and fit it over the vehicles cockpit until it connects to the windshield frame.
4. Go inside the Audi TT, press the large button on the ceiling and grab the soft top handle. Turn the handle counterclockwise and pull down on the soft top. Turn the handle clockwise while holding the soft top to the windshield frame.

5. Turn your Audi TTs engine on and pull up on the emergency brake to engage it.
6. Push the soft top control button next to the emergency brake and hold it in. The soft top will emerge from the storage well in the rear of the vehicle.
7. Release the button when the soft top is no longer moving forward. Press the large button on the ceiling and twist the soft top handle counterclockwise. Pull the soft top down and toward the windshield frame and twist the handle clockwise to lock it in.

How to Install a Thermostat on a BMW 323ic

1. Remove the radiator hose from the thermostat housing by loosening the retaining clip that secures the hose onto the housing with the screwdriver. Pull the hose off the thermostat housing and hold it vertical so the antifreeze goes back into the radiator. Push the hose off to the side to make accessing the thermostat housing easier.
2. Remove the 10 mm bolts that hold the thermostat housing onto the intake manifold of the BMW with the wrench and then pull the thermostat housing off the intake manifold.
3. Remove the old thermostat and then place the new one into the intake manifold. The thermostat sits on a machined lip that is located below the level of antifreeze. The thermostat should be properly seated to ensure it works correctly.
4. Pull the old thermostat gasket off the intake manifold and place a bead of RTV gasket sealer in its place on the intake manifold. Place the paper thermostat gasket on top of the RTV gasket sealer. Place a small amount of RTV gasket sealer on the bottom of the thermostat housing and then bolt the housing back into place.
5. Place the radiator hose back onto the thermostat housing and secure the retaining clip into place.
6. Start the engine and allow it to warm up. Inspect for leaks where the thermostat housing is bolted to the intake manifold and where the radiator hose connects to the housing. If the radiator hose leaks, replace the retaining clip with a band clamp. If the area where the housing and the manifold bolts together leaks, tighten the housing bolts more.

Instructions on How to Install a CD Player in a Car

1. Remove the old car stereo. The majority of factory-issued car stereos are locked in place by tabs located on the side of the unit. Owners can buy custom keys from car audio retailers or directly from the manufacturer. The clips can also be released by using bent coat hangers or a flat head screwdriver pushed into the tabs to unclip the lock. Gently pull out the old stereo once the clips are released.
2. Disconnect the old stereo. Pull out the black radio antenna from the rear of the old stereo. Push the tab on the side of the wire harness that has all the connecting wires for the power, CD changer and speakers and pull the connection apart. Set the old stereo to the side.
3. Install faceplates if necessary. Some factory-issued car stereos come in customized designs and shapes. Aftermarket stereos are a standard size, and faceplates are available to fit them into the space vacated by a customized radio shape. These faceplates are specific to the car model and available from car audio retailers. Follow the manufacturers instructions to attach the faceplate. Most faceplates will click into the holding slots for the old stereo.
4. Connect the aftermarket CD player to the car. Make sure that all of the wire connections extend through the faceplate portal. Connect an aftermarket wire harness adapter to the wire harness of the car. Wire harness adapters are specific to car models and available from car audio retailers. Connect the other end of the wire harness adapter to the wire harness of the CD player. Make sure that all connections click into place. Connect the black radio antenna cable to the radio antenna port on the rear of the CD player---check the device instructions---and ensure it is secure.
5. Test the connections. Turn on the CD player. Establish that a signal is being sent to the car speakers by using the unit features one-by-one.
6. Secure the CD player into the dashboard housing. Push the wire connections first into the portal then slide the CD player unit into the dashboard housing. Push it in until it is secure in the housing. If it is replacing a standard-sized unit, it will slide into the clips used by the previous unit.

How to Install a Mercedes CD Changer

1. Place your two stereo removal tools into their slots on the face of the stereo system. These will be on adjacent sides of the face.
2. Press them into the slots until you hear them click into place.
3. Press the tools inward toward each other and pull the stereo face out of its bay.
4. Unplug the power cord and two speaker cords from the back of the stereo.
5. Plug these into the corresponding ports in the back of your new CD changer system.
6. Slide the CD changer system into the stereo bay.
7. Press the CD changer until it clicks into place.
